What we fix most on Samsung ranges

  1. Bake or broil igniter
  2. Surface burner or spark switch
  3. Control board
  4. Door hinge or lock
  5. Gas valve or regulator
  6. Temperature sensor

Counted from our technicians' notes on 38 Samsung range service calls.

Samsung gas ovens that won't heat or heat slowly

Hot-surface igniters light the bake and broil burners. A weakening igniter still glows, but the gas valve stops opening reliably, so preheat drags on or the oven goes cold in the middle of a bake. Gas valve and regulator problems can also show up as a weak or uneven flame. Those repairs are for a technician only.

Clicking burners and the C-24 code

Constant clicking generally comes from moisture after cleaning or a boil-over. Let the cooktop dry and set each burner cap flat. A burner that still clicks or won't spark after drying needs a new spark switch or electrode.

Samsung says C-24 typically means a pan is covering the vent on the back of the cooktop. An oven that runs hot or cold with that vent clear needs its temperature sensor or control board tested.

Locked doors, sagging doors and the Flex Duo divider

The oven locks its own door when it gets very hot. That's a safety feature. A door still locked once the oven is cool calls for checking the child lock and power-cycling the range. Heavy doors on slide-in models also wear out their hinges, and then the seal gets poor and heat leaks out.

Flex Duo models check whether the divider is in before they start. A -dC- code most likely means the divider is in the wrong slot, or something is pressing the switch at the back.

Samsung range and oven codes

CodeWhat it usually means
-dC-, -dE-Flex Duo divider not installed properly, or something is pressing the divider switch
doorDoor not detected as closed. Check the door switch or door alignment
C-24Oven heating faster than expected, typically because the vent on the back of the cooktop is covered
C-F0The range's control boards aren't communicating
C-10Temperature sensor reading out of range during a self-diagnosis test
bAd LinEPower connection isn't wired correctly
tESt, tE5tNot a fault. Demo mode is on, so the oven and electric elements won't heat
CtoPSelf-clean blocked because a cooktop burner or element is on

Codes vary by model. Got a code that isn't here? Samsung's generic fix is a power cycle. Use the range's own power button first. Still showing? Leave the breaker off for 30 seconds before switching it back on. When the code keeps returning, the range needs service.

Run through this first

Smell gas? Stop, leave the house and call your gas utility.

  • Restart the range, and if that does nothing, give it 30 seconds off at the breaker.
  • Make sure demo mode (tESt) or the child lock isn't on.
  • Move anything that's covering the cooktop's rear vent.
  • Reinstall the Flex Duo divider, pushed all the way in, in the slot your manual shows.

Where Samsung puts the range label

Some Samsung ranges put the label under the left side of the cooktop, and others on the left frame behind the bottom drawer. The most common spot, though, is the front frame, on its left or right side, which you'll see once the oven door is open.

Which Samsung range repairs pay off

Igniters, spark switches, sensors and door hinges are routine repairs on a Samsung range. Control boards and gas valves cost more, so get a confirmed diagnosis before ordering parts. A cracked glass cooktop is the repair most likely to tip things toward a new range.

Samsung range repair FAQ

What goes wrong most often on Samsung ranges?

In our technicians' notes on 38 Samsung range service calls, the repairs that come up most involve the bake or broil igniter, surface burner or spark switch and control board. The list near the top of this page shows the rest.

How many Samsung ranges have you repaired?

38 Samsung range repairs are in our service records so far, and customers rated those visits 4.7 out of 5 stars.

What does -dC- mean on a Samsung oven?

On Flex Duo ranges it means the divider isn't installed right, and -dE- means the same. Samsung says to pull the divider out and push it fully into the correct slot, which is third from the top on electric and dual-fuel models and fourth on gas. Not using the divider? Make sure nothing is pressing the divider switch at the back. Starting a two-oven mode without the divider triggers it too.

Why won't my Samsung oven heat when the display is on?

Look for tESt or tE5t on the display first. That's demo mode, and in demo mode the oven and electric elements won't heat, though gas burners still light. Your manual explains how to turn it off. With demo mode off, a gas oven that won't heat most likely has a weak igniter, while an electric one probably has a failed bake element or a relay on the control board.

Why is my Samsung oven door locked?

Samsung ovens lock the door on their own when they're very hot, such as during or right after self-clean, and unlock once things cool. Cool oven, still locked? See if the child lock is on, then turn the range off and on or flip the breaker off for 30 seconds. Still locked after that means the lock motor or switch needs diagnosis.

What does C-24 mean on a Samsung range?

The oven temperature climbed faster than the sensor expected. Samsung's first suspect is something sitting over the cooktop's rear vent, like a pan, so move it. Then let some heat out, either by opening and closing the oven door several times or by switching the oven off with the door open for a minute. When the vent is clear and C-24 keeps coming back, the sensor should be tested.

How much does Samsung range repair cost?

The trip and diagnostic fee starts at $129. Your technician quotes the repair upfront using the Appliance Blue Book, before any work begins, so you can decide with no surprises.

Are you a factory-authorized Samsung service provider?

Yes. Omega Force Appliance Repair is a factory-authorized Samsung service provider.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Repairs you pay us for directly come with a 10-year warranty on parts and a 60-day labor warranty. When a manufacturer, home warranty company or other third party pays for the repair, that company's warranty applies instead.
