Known for laundry, built out into the kitchen
Most people know Maytag for washers and dryers. These days it also makes refrigerators, dishwashers, ranges, wall ovens, cooktops and microwaves. Maytag is a Whirlpool Corporation brand, so a lot of its models share parts and engineering with Whirlpool, and the washer and dryer error codes Maytag publishes match Whirlpool's.
The brand leans hard into heavy-duty features. Its laundry line includes commercial-grade residential washers and dryers, an Extra Power option that adds time and wash action, and Pet Pro, which uses a built-in filter to catch pet hair. In the kitchen, Maytag dishwashers use Dual Power filtration, a fine filter paired with a stainless steel chopper.
How the 10-year parts warranty changes the repair math
Maytag's 10-year limited parts warranty applies to its big kitchen and laundry appliances built after 2017, and only certain parts are included. On refrigerators that means the compressor. On laundry it covers the dryer drum, the wash basket and the drive motor. According to Maytag's page, all parts and labor are covered in the first year. Exact coverage depends on your model and when you bought it. It's worth doing before you decide whether to repair, since a covered part can tip the numbers.
Maytag tag locations, appliance by appliance
- Washers have it inside the lid at the bottom right corner, on the back behind the control panel, or on the back of the base frame.
- Dryers put it inside the door, on the back frame with the door open, or at the upper left on the back of the cabinet.
- Refrigerators have it on the liner above the crisper, or up high in the fresh-food compartment, either at the front or on the left side.
- Dishwashers put it under the control panel or at the frame's upper left corner.
- For a range, look underneath or inside the burner box. A wall oven's tag is low on the left side of the frame, visible when the door is open.
Three small habits that pay off
Running Pet Pro? Clean the lint screen after every load. Keep cleaning the dishwasher filter regularly too, chopper or not. And go easy on HE detergent. Hard water in our Minnesota and Wisconsin service areas tempts people to add more, and that's how you end up with suds codes.
