What we fix most on Samsung washers

  1. Control board
  2. Suspension rods or shocks
  3. Motor or hall sensor
  4. Drain pump
  5. Water inlet valve
  6. Tub bearings or spider arm

Counted from our technicians' notes on 55 Samsung washer service calls.

Ub codes and a washer that walks

Lopsided loads cause most Ub codes, and a bulky comforter by itself is the classic case. When normal loads still bang the cabinet, look at worn suspension rods on a top-loader or worn shocks on a front-loader. A rumble during spin that keeps getting louder points to the tub bearings, and on front-loaders the drum's spider arm can wear out around the same time.

Fill and drain trouble

For a washer that won't fill (4C), open both taps fully, straighten the hoses and check the inlet screens. Seeing 4C2 or 4E2 after the washer was moved? The hot and cold hoses are probably swapped. With good pressure and clean screens, the inlet valve is next on the list.

Drain problems (5C) on a front-loader start at the drain filter behind a small panel at the bottom front. Clear it and check the hose. A pump that hums without moving any water has failed.

No spin, or a door that won't lock

3E and bE point to the motor or its speed sensor. Samsung washer control boards fail too, frequently after power problems, and voltage codes like 9C1 can point the same way.

A dC or dE door code typically means laundry caught in the door, a broken latch, or a failed lock assembly.

Samsung washer codes at a glance

CodeWhat it usually means
4C, 4E, nFNot filling. Water supply, inlet screens or inlet valve
4C2, 4E2Cold supply is too hot, so the hot and cold hoses are probably swapped
5C, 5E, SC, SE, ndNot draining. Drain filter, drain hose or drain pump
OC, OEOverflow, meaning too much water in the tub
UE, Ub, UrLoad unbalanced. With Ur, the washer is trying to fix it by adding water
dC, dE, dL, LOThe washer can't confirm the door or lid is shut and locked
LE, LC, 1E, 1CFault in the water level sensor, or a possible leak sensed
3E, 3CMotor problem (a voltage problem on some models)
bE, 6EMotor speed sensor problem
HE, HCWater heater problem
Sd, SUdToo many suds. The washer pauses to let them settle
PE, PCClutch position problem (top-load models)

Codes vary by model, and Samsung marks several as model-dependent. For a code that isn't listed, Samsung suggests powering the washer off for 2 to 3 minutes and restarting the cycle.

Easy things to try

  • Turn the washer off for 2 to 3 minutes, then restart the cycle.
  • Rearrange the load and make sure the washer sits level.
  • On front-loaders, clean the drain filter with towels ready.
  • Use HE detergent, and cut back on it if Sd shows up.
  • Cb means the washer is calibrating its load sensing. Run it empty.

Looking for the model label? On a front-loader it's on the door frame or near the door seal, or on the back if it isn't there. Top-loaders have it on the back of the cabinet.

Hard water and Self Clean

Run Self Clean when the reminder comes up, and leave the door or lid open between loads. In hard-water areas like much of Minnesota and Southwest Florida, check the inlet screens if fill times stretch out.

Is your Samsung washer covered, and is it worth fixing?

Samsung's warranty page lists ten years of coverage on the Digital Inverter Motor for washers bought on or after April 1, 2026, with a receipt. Older purchases fall under different terms, so check your paperwork. Pumps, valves, door locks and suspension parts are routine repairs. Bearing and spider failures take a lot of labor, which makes the washer's age a bigger factor.

Samsung washer repair FAQ

What goes wrong most often on Samsung washers?

In our technicians' notes on 55 Samsung washer service calls, the repairs that come up most involve the control board, suspension rods or shocks and motor or hall sensor. The list near the top of this page shows the rest.

How many Samsung washers have you repaired?

55 Samsung washer repairs are in our service records so far, and customers rated those visits 4.8 out of 5 stars.

What does 4C mean on a Samsung washer?

Water isn't getting into the washer properly. The same problem can show as 4E or nF. Make sure both taps are fully open, the hoses aren't kinked, and the inlet screens where the hoses attach aren't clogged. A 4C2 or 4E2 is different. Samsung says the cold supply is too hot, which most likely means the hot and cold hoses are reversed. Swap them back and you're set.

How do I fix Ub on a Samsung washer?

Ub, also shown as UE or U6, means the washer couldn't spread the laundry evenly enough to spin. Rearrange the load, add a few similar items to a very small one, or split up a single heavy piece. Ur means it's retrying by adding water. Frequent Ub with normal loads points to a washer that isn't level or worn suspension.

What does dC mean on my Samsung washer?

The washer can't confirm the door or lid is closed and locked, and dE and dL mean the same thing. Look for clothing caught in the door, open and shut it firmly, and restart. When the code sticks around with nothing in the way, the latch, lock assembly or its wiring has likely failed. On top-loaders, a broken lid strike or a bent lid can also cause it.

Why does my Samsung washer keep pausing with Sd?

It sensed too many suds. It sits idle for a bit while the foam dies down, then picks up where it left off, and that makes the cycle run long. Too much detergent, or detergent that isn't made for high-efficiency washers, is the usual cause. Measure your HE detergent. Running Self Clean can help clear residue from earlier overdosing.

How much does Samsung washer repair cost?

The trip and diagnostic fee starts at $129. Your technician quotes the repair upfront using the Appliance Blue Book, before any work begins, so you can decide with no surprises.

Are you a factory-authorized Samsung service provider?

Yes. Omega Force Appliance Repair is a factory-authorized Samsung service provider.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Repairs you pay us for directly come with a 10-year warranty on parts and a 60-day labor warranty. When a manufacturer, home warranty company or other third party pays for the repair, that company's warranty applies instead.

Omega Force Appliance Repair is a factory-authorized Samsung service provider.
