What we fix most on Frigidaire dishwashers

  4. Filter or clog
  5. Circulation pump or motor
  6. Control board

Counted from our technicians' notes on 80 Frigidaire dishwasher service calls.

Water on the kitchen floor

At the front of the machine, a worn or dislodged door gasket is the most common leak. Frigidaire dishwashers also have a float switch in the base pan. Once water collects there, the dishwasher stops filling and may show i30. Look under the tub for a cracked hose, a loose fitting or a bad seal.

Standing water, dirty dishes, or a cycle that won't start

Water left in the tub traces back to a short list of things. The filter or glass trap is clogged, the drain hose is kinked, the knockout plug in a garbage disposer was never removed, or the drain pump has failed.

Dirty dishes come down to lost wash pressure. Food packed into the filter, plugged spray arm holes or a weak circulation pump will all do it, and cold incoming water makes results worse.

A door latch that doesn't fully catch will keep the cycle from starting, and the display may read CL.

Reading Frigidaire's i codes

Codes vary by model and control. These are the ones owners report most.

CodeWhat it usually means
i10Water didn't reach the right level in time. Make sure the supply valve is open and the line isn't kinked.
i20Water was still in the tub when the drain step ended.
i30Leak detected. Water in the base pan has tripped the float switch.
i40The filter or sump is clogged. Clean the glass trap and filter.
i60A water heating problem that needs a technician.
PFPower dropped during the cycle. Press Start/Cancel and restart.
CL or CdThe latch hasn't caught, so the control treats the door as open.

Hd or HO isn't a fault. The dishwasher is heating water before it moves on, and that takes longer when the water coming in is cold.

What to try on your own

  • Run the kitchen tap until the water is hot before starting a cycle.
  • Lift out the glass trap, empty it and rinse the filter.
  • Check that the drain hose isn't pinched and loops at least 32 inches above the floor.
  • With a newly installed disposer, confirm the knockout plug actually came out.
  • To reset, switch the breaker off for three minutes or just press Cancel.

The model tag is on the inside edge of the door or the right side of the tub.

Hard water and normal noises

Frigidaire notes that hard water leaves lime deposits in the tub, and that's a real issue in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Southwest Florida. Keep the rinse aid dispenser full and clean the filter regularly. Some rumbling as the wash switches between spray arms is normal.

Frigidaire dishwasher repair FAQ

What goes wrong most often on Frigidaire dishwashers?

In our technicians' notes on 80 Frigidaire dishwasher service calls, the repairs that come up most involve the leak or door gasket, drain pump and door latch. The list near the top of this page shows the rest.

How many Frigidaire dishwashers have you repaired?

80 Frigidaire dishwasher repairs are in our service records so far, and customers rated those visits 5.0 out of 5 stars.

What does i20 mean on a Frigidaire dishwasher?

It means water was left in the tub after draining. Clear any food out of the filter and sump first. Then make sure the drain hose loops up at least 32 inches off the floor with no kinks or clogs, and if a disposer was just installed, check that its knockout plug was removed. Reset by cutting power for three minutes or pressing Cancel. If i20 returns, the drain pump may be at fault.

Is HO or Hd on a Frigidaire dishwasher an error?

No, it's a status message. The dishwasher is pausing to bring the water up to temperature before the cycle continues, and colder water coming in means a longer wait. Running the kitchen faucet until it's hot before you press Start cuts the delay. A dishwasher that never gets past the heating step may need its heater serviced.

How do you reset a Frigidaire dishwasher?

The quickest option is to hold Cancel (Start/Cancel on some models), which stops the cycle and clears most codes. A full reset takes about three minutes without power. Unplug a corded model, or flip off the dishwasher's breaker, then restore power. A code that reappears right away won't be fixed by resetting, so write it down before you call for service.

Why does my Frigidaire dishwasher keep showing i30?

Water has gathered in the base pan under the tub and tripped the leak float switch, so the machine stops filling. A leaking door gasket, a loose hose connection, a cracked part under the tub or oversudsing from the wrong detergent are the usual suspects. Shut off the power and water, and get the leak found before you run it again.

How much does Frigidaire dishwasher repair cost?

The trip and diagnostic fee starts at $129. Your technician quotes the repair upfront using the Appliance Blue Book, before any work begins, so you can decide with no surprises.

Are you a factory-authorized Frigidaire service provider?

Yes. Omega Force Appliance Repair is a factory-authorized Frigidaire service provider.

Is the repair guaranteed?

Repairs you pay us for directly come with a 10-year warranty on parts and a 60-day labor warranty. When a manufacturer, home warranty company or other third party pays for the repair, that company's warranty applies instead.

Omega Force Appliance Repair is a factory-authorized Frigidaire service provider.
