Swedish, and serious about steel
Asko is a Swedish brand that started with washing machines and has been building them for over 70 years. The look is clean and Scandinavian, and the thinking behind it is practical and engineering-first. Over here, Asko is best known for dishwashers, and it sells washers and dryers too. Asko says its dishwashers are made of high-quality steel and tested for 12,500 hours, and it markets them as having more steel inside than other dishwashers.
The Asko lineup
Dishwashers come built-in, fully integrated panel-ready and freestanding, with outdoor and professional versions as well. The large-capacity models hold up to 18 place settings. The washers are front-loaders. Dryers come two ways. A heat pump model keeps reusing the same air inside a sealed loop, so no outside vent is needed. A vented model sends its warm, damp exhaust through a duct to the outdoors.
What makes an Asko different to repair
Asko machines are European designs, and that changes the repair. Their parts are specific to the brand, not shared with mass-market lines, so we need the exact model number before ordering anything. Heat pump dryers handle moisture very differently from vented ones. Their lint filters and heat exchanger have to stay clean or drying slows, and there's no vent to check. On the dishwasher side, clean filters and a correct installation are what let it drain and dry well.
Two years of coverage, with a few wrinkles
Asko's US warranty page lists a two-year limited warranty on parts and labor for household use, and filters count as consumables. Asko has also run registration-based promotions that gave dishwashers longer coverage. The paperwork that came with yours spells out what's still covered.
Habits that keep an Asko happy
- Rinse the dishwasher filter regularly and keep rinse aid filled so dishes dry well.
- Clean the lint filters on a heat pump dryer after every load, and the secondary filters as the manual describes.
- Keep a vented dryer's duct short and clean, and in a Minnesota or Wisconsin winter make sure the outside flap isn't frozen shut.
- Prop the washer door and detergent drawer open between loads so they dry out.
