BACKSTORY

Hey, I’m Tom! I’ve been working as an appliance repair technician since 2016, but my background also includes commercial HVAC, refrigeration, and hot-side repair work. I graduated with a diploma in HVAC and refrigeration repair back in 2013 and have been honing my skills ever since. There’s nothing more satisfying to me than troubleshooting a tough repair and getting it right.
Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors—camping and fishing in the summer, hunting in the fall. I’m also big into music and play several instruments, including accordion, banjo, and guitar. Occasionally, I even jam with a fast-paced rock band back in Minneapolis. I enjoy tinkering, whether it’s working on vehicles, ATVs, or learning something new.

GE monogram built in refrigerator has intermittent issue of making a loud noise. Customer stated they noise stops when the door is opened. Verified condenser fan motor is operating as designed. The fact that the sound stops when the door is opened indicates the evaporator fan motor being at fault. Checked evaporator fan motor. Found some ice build up around shroud of fan motor. Used steamer to clear all ice build up. Should not make anymore noise.

I want to start by saying everyone I’ve interacted with has been really nice and professional, Jenny and Tom especially. My feedback is more on the process of the repair, and if I could go back in time, I would elect to not get the repair done. I’m going on week 3 of not having a working refrigerator, and by the time of my appointment next week it’s almost a month. Add to that there’s not a lot of confidence that this will even work. I’m worried about costs adding up that were not even a part of my original repair. I have no idea how much the total is coming to so far.
